This was a labour of love, all round for us. Sasha’s first book, now redone by Zambezi Publishing, has a soft spot in her heart
- obviously. Jan also gets soft about it, bringing such a well-known title out again, with our own cover, typesetting, and on top of that, fully illustrated with Jonathan Dee’s newly designed Jonathan Dee
Tarot pack.
Cards haven’t even been produced yet for this deck, it sees the light of day for the first time in Fortune Telling by Tarot Cards. We love the deck, traditional in style, and wait until the
colored cards eventually come out... but don’t hold your breath on that score just yet, we only have 48 hours in the day! |

I look down here and see, sadly, how little time we’ve had to spend on the website, for many, many, months...
However,
things are working out again, and we’ve now spent quite a bit of time recently, starting up Sasha’s new personal website, which we’re quite excited about. It will give us much more scope to explore what we
can upload in future. You’ll find the site at www.sashafenton.com

where we’ll be re-arranging various sections between the two sites, to make them more user-friendly and logical in structure. Book ordering and full details of our books will probably stay here at Zampub.
The new site is still in its early days, relatively few pages up at the moment, but these include a comprehensive list of Sun Sign Nutshells, and weekly forecasts for all twelve

Well, here we are, it’s halfway through the year already, and I’ve hardly done a thing to the website. There’s so much in the pipeline, it’s hard to
get some bits done without having to do much more, because it all hangs together!
However, it looks like there may be a decent break in July, so here’s hoping...Very briefly, one of the things holding
us up is finalizing a number of new books that are all coming out at about the same time; Star*Date*Oracle is due in early July; Quantum Perception
about mid-July, as well as our annual Astro guide, Forecasts 2002.
Not long after these comes the revised, updated, expanded edition of Astrology... on the Move!
So, apart from everything else, there’s been quite a bit happening on the new book front - as soon as I have a little bit of time, I’ll put up details, cover thumbnails, and sample extracts as well. eBook
versions will follow, but that’s going to take some time yet - only Chinese Divinations has been available as an eBook at the moment:- I find that it just doesn’t work, simply to put the paper book out as an
eBook.
For a start, the page size has to change, to suit the computer screen; that already means re-typesetting the whole book.
Secondly, what about the glare of a black text on white background? Try
reading 50 pages of that, let alone 200! I now use a very faint tinted background, colored to ease the eyeballs.
There are many other considerations as well, and we don’t take the easy route that you find
in many other eBook offerings; have a look & see how many are really just paper typeset texts - not only hard to read on screen, but totally boring viewing as well (why just black on white?
Color costs nothing on screen, unlike on paper...). More anon, have a great summer meanwhile, it’s looking good here so far! |

New Year, new site!
Well, sort of - a major spring clean, at the very least - due to be implemented by
mid-January, and some new stuff to think about:
~ we now have our first eBook and DiskBook just about ready - these are the digital versions of Sasha’s latest book, Chinese
Divinations. The paper version will follow, about the end of January. The DiskBook is, to our knowledge, the first such animal anywhere - it’s an eBook on CD-ROM. What for? well, read all about it on the
Chinese Divinations
page.

~ we’re also installing a new, improved shopping cart system. It’s essential, now that we have to be able to handle eBooks (downloads), DiskBooks (may be VAT
involved), as well as the international / UK postal differences that have been a nuisance until now.
So, we now use the Shop Factory system, which is very flexible and very reasonably priced for
its capabilities. Hope you like it and find it easier to use than our previous setup. A very handy feature is its ability to show an up-to-date conversion from our quoted prices (US $) to your own currency -
for most of the world’s major currencies.

~ At the same time, we’ve registered with WorldPay, a major Internet card payment provider. Again, we
needed a more sophisticated system, and WorldPay is well-known and respected, worldwide. Besides being a top rate provider, it has enhanced flexibility and naturally, world-class security / encryption safety
for your card details.
One of the other advantages of the WorldPay system, is that it also has a micro-payment facility
available; This makes small purchases feasible, e.g. items for say, 50p / 50c, which are normally to small to be cost-effective on a normal card basis. We have plans to use this facility this year, but more on that closer to the time...
(CCNow was also secure, but not flexible enough. For anyone wanting just a simple, basic and economic card payment system, CCNow is still an idea).

It’s been a while since we have had a chance to update - (and reorganize) - our site; the last few months have been very hectic, but things are
starting to normalize at last. We’ve been to the Frankfurt Bookfair in October, which always takes weeks of preparation, and at least a week afterwards to digest everything.
All worthwhile, and fun as
well, with Jan discovering that his Afrikaans is well enough understood in Germany to get him by with priorities (like ordering a beer...).
Jan will shortly be working on site development, as well as
looking into some exciting new projects... watch this space for news (probably in December) regarding our plans to produce eBooks and DiskBooks (eBooks on CD). New technology, and Zambezi intends to keep up
with the times - eBooks will make our titles more easily accessible, with better prices for you and simpler, more economical production requirements for us. |

Westward Ho!
Sasha, Jan and Zambezi Publishing have now relocated to Plymouth, historic home of Sir
Francis Drake, and very near Dartmoor, home of the infamous Hound of the Baskervilles (hopefully now dead & gone...).
Our first impressions are great, there is so much history here, along with some
really good sea & river fishing, decent countryside and picturesque little villages all serving tea and Devon / Cornwall clotted cream (terrible for the arteries, but terribly good stuff!). Not to
mention the difference from London’s rush hour traffic; people here complain if they can see more than three cars around them... |

Your Millennium Forecasts:
We are very pleased with the reception that this book has had since its
release in August ‘99. It was planned tentatively as a replacement for the annual Astro guide series, to make the content more readily available to our readers worldwide, and clearly, this objective has been
achieved.
Under a slightly different name (Your Forecasts for 2001), we intend to bring out this concept each year, keeping the basic format, but with fresh, interesting changes in its the content.
There are still copies available of the current title, and although the book is useful throughout Year 2000 and beyond, we have now reduced the price for orders placed directly with us.

Credit Card payments
Something we are well aware of is the need for us to be able to accept real time credit card payments. It is difficult for those of you not
in the UK to fiddle around with conversion rates, bank drafts, etc. and it doesn’t match the immediacy of the Internet overall.
We are nearly there now - We’ve enlisted CCNow
as our authorized online retailer, and the only delay now is the matter of sorting out overseas postage rates. This is expected to be programmed into CCNow’s system by early November (this century!).
For the guidance of other website owners thinking about accepting cards, the following information may be useful. CCNow is based in the States (we find that things are much more advanced
there, and it would be totally impractical to sign up with a Merchant Service in the UK, due to the very high setup costs, monthly charges and then the commission as well. Sure, if one’s main
line of business is direct selling and one is certain of doing at least hundreds of transactions a month, that can be cost-effective. But any new website first has to become well-known, and
secondly, it has to be specifically sales orientated.
For those of you like us, who sell mainly to bookshops and other terrestrial outlets, an initial outlay of well over £500 for a
professional standard shopping cart plus Merchant card arrangements just isn’t practical, the volume of sales wouldn’t cover the monthly fees. |

New Website
Well, here we are with a brand new website. That’s news in itself, and we have a policy of upgrading and improving continually, so you can expect to
see the site itself changing a lot over the months to come. By the new Millennium (sounds good to talk that way for a change, doesn’t it!) there will be substantial additions and improvements, so
watch this space... A piece of advice:-
as with all web sites, when there is much rearrangement, pages are sometimes deleted. If you bookmark a specific page in our site and visit it later, only to find an error message telling you the address doesn’t exist, don’t panic! we’re still here, just that page may have been replaced. It’s always a good idea to bookmark the index/home page of a website rather than specific inner pages.
Some of the things you can expect shortly:

We will be adding more addresses, resources, articles from writers all over the world, comments/tips/hints/critiques from
our visitors
- A calendar of interesting events
, for all MB&S disciplines, from astrology to zoomancy. If you have information about any forthcoming events that may be
suitable for publication on our site, please let us know about it... e-mail us right now, or later, at

. We want to be able to communicate interesting information, wherever in the world you may be - the Internet makes it simple to be global and we want to make the best use possible of such new opportunities. There is no charge for advertising an event on our site.
We do retain the right to decide whether or not the event is appropriate or suitable within our policies, so no chancers punting adult romps, etc. We are not responsible for the
accuracy or actual content of events, but we do monitor what we publish as far as possible.
Secondly, please let us know about events well in advance; it isn’t always possible to
publish last-minute information, and in fact, it may take a week or two before information is published.
- Its a nuisance at the moment for us not to be able to accept
credit cards for purchases, and we intend to fix this as soon as
possible. In the meantime, our books are available from all major UK bookstores and UK Internet bookshops, or direct from us as well. If a terrestrial bookstore tells you that a Zampub
book isn’t available, then they’re just being lazy - give them the ISBN number & tell them to get it! They know how...
- Sasha and I are very keen to have
an interactive site, so we’ll be setting up facilities for you to be able to communicate with
us, our authors and MB&S colleagues, and between yourselves. Probably a chat room is the answer. I (Jan) has to look into that, amongst all the other things we do here in a 48 hour
day!
- Courses:-
We are busy with an astrology course that we want to present online.
There may be a Tarot course coming up as well.
Palmistry, possibly,
but we’ll see what sort of demand there is for this, later on.
- Naturally,
a horoscope column is on the cards, and perhaps a phone line setup for astrology & Tarot readings as well.
- Astrological readings:-
you’ll be able to order detailed printed readings from us, sent to you wherever in the world you may be. Online readings may be possible, but not in the near future. That is a very time-intensive project that can’t be accommodated as yet.
- A unique mystery service!
News about this later this century, but there always has to be a mystery item to keep people in suspense, so there you are - this one may even be a world-first...
- A number of people / organizations will be taking up pages on our site, making
complementary services & products
readily available to you.
- Library:
Once articles published on the site are no longer current, we’ll move them to a library section, where you can still look them up at any time.
- Mail list:
If you wish to be kept advised of developments, then please e-mail us, giving us your e-mail address and mentioning your particular interests. We will keep you updated, and we will not pass on your details to third parties, unless you wish us to do so. We are not interested in spamming.
