There is always a need for smaller publishers to keep an eye out for a better system, a better deal or some way to keep the bottom line from
falling right through the bottom... we’ll list various of our own experiences here, and we would also welcome contributions from you, which we will gladly attribute accordingly. The market
may be competitive, but there is much to be gained from helping each other as well. Anyway, we all love reading hints & tips, so what the hell, send us your ideas! |

If you aren’t a member already, give some thought to joining a formal organisation. You’ll stay up to date and find many other advantages as well. Some
useful organisations are listed here, and wherever you live, the American Publishers’ Marketing Organisation is very good. They produce a great newsletter, which is particularly useful if you
deal with or intend to get to grips with the American market.
Independent Publishers Guild (UK) find them at www.ipg.uk.com
Publishers’ Marketing Association (USA) Find them at www.pma-online.org
Even if you aren’t a member, their library of articles on publishing and related subjects would fill a leverArch file.
If you are in the States, joining them is a must. Elsewhere, if you want to get into the USA market with your books, this is the route. Just visit the site and see for yourself.
Want
to learn the ins and outs of publishing? self-publishing? and more... Then visit Dan Poynter’s website at
www.parapublishing.com
and also have a look at his book “The Self-publishing Manual” which is packed full of all sorts of information. It certainly helped us a lot, and we still refer to it. It is updated &
revised frequently, and very good value. So is the website. |
