News Flash! The (paper) book is now in the shops (UK); our eBook
version will (touch wood...) be ready and available for download in July (yes, this year!) ~~~ Watch this space for updates... ~~~ We intend to bring out a
DiskBook version * as well, also in July.
* What’s a DiskBook?
Sasha felt the need to create a new concept for various reasons, including the need to cater for those people either not yet online, or who have difficulty with downloading large files
over the Internet. Additionally, bookshops in general don’t have the facilities available to sell eBooks. Our DiskBook concept is an eBook on CD-ROM, enabling us to address all these issues.
DiskBooks are not quite the same as a multimedia CD; that is something we will be looking into in due course. ~~~ Will our DiskBooks be available in the Bookshops?
Well, that depends on the bookshops; we believe that in time, bookshops will have to take the view “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” and sell eBooks (and DiskBooks).
Internet bookshops such as Amazon.com and Barnes&Noble.com already have eBook departments.
No-one, to our knowledge, has yet come up with Sasha’s DiskBook concept. ~~~ eBooks exist, most major publishers are busy digitizing their book lists,
and although eBooks are not likely to replace normal paper books (pBooks), there is little doubt that the eBook phenomenon will have a permanent place in publishing.
Book production costs spiral, margins
dwindle, stocks run out, paper books go out of print, people want to have more books at lower prices, and people want to be able to buy books worldwide, without paying astronomical shipping costs.
How else can all these needs be fulfilled?
These new book formats are still the subject of much speculation about pricing, authors’ royalties, availability, piracy, and a host of other considerations. We don’t
have all the answers yet, but we aren’t waiting for the dust to settle - there’s no progress that way - so, our first eBook & DiskBook will be out shortly. ~~~
A Final word... Downloads are one thing, but production of CD-ROMs is another. It would be very useful for us to know in advance
what sort of demand is likely for the CD-ROM based DiskBooks. You can help us by simply sending an email to
diskbooks@zampub.com no message even needed, a simple email will do. (We won’t use this to send you junk mail, nor to put you on our mailing list.
To join our mailing list for information about new titles, email us by clicking here
). ~~~ Specifically, our eBooks & DiskBooks will initially be in PDF format (read them using Adobe ® Acrobat Reader).
If you don’t have Acrobat Reader yet, it is free software, available from Adobe (www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html)
you can download the latest version, free of charge, by following the above link. Apart from the Reader, the only other requirement for a DiskBook
is a CD-ROM drive. Our eBooks and DiskBooks will cost less than their paper equivalent: ~~~ Initially, Chinese Divinations eBook: US$7.50
(sent to you by email attachment once payment has been received)
Chinese Divinations DiskBook: US$10.50 + p&p
(sent to you by first class post / airmail once payment has been received) ~~~ The above details are subject to change depending on various
factors; for example, there may be VAT payable on DiskBooks sold within the EU. We reserve the right in our sole discretion to amend our terms, conditions, prices and other parameters
as changing circumstances warrant. ~~~ Any questions, queries or comments? write to us at ebooks@zampub.com
